Have Yourself a Folky Little Christmas, Day 12

By Kim Ruehl, About.com

Nia: the Kwanzaa principle of Purpose

Holiday-Themed Song of the Day:

"Little Christmas Song", by David Roth from Think Twice (Wind River, 2004).

Kwanzaa Principle of the Day: Nia:

Nia stands for the principle of Purpose. This fifth day of Kwanzaa commemorates a focus on developing the African-American and building it up to realize its most positive potential.

Holiday Tradition of the Day:

Part of the celebration of Kwanzaa is focused on celebrating the Good in the world, and particularly the positive aspects of African heritage and the African-American community. It's also a focus on the overall good of life and existence, and the positive aspects of ordinary things.

Gift of the Day:

Still on the Journey: The 20th Anniversary Album by Sweet Honey In The Rock. This sextet of women sings great a cappella Folk tunes, and this CD is a great primer on this classic group. listen or buy direct.
