Holiday-Themed Song of the Day:

"Mary Had a Baby, by Bruce Cockburn from Christmas (Columbia, 1993).

Ujamaa stands for the principle of Collective Economics. This fourth day of Kwanzaa (celebrated on December 30th) focuses on the formation of African-American-owned businesses, and encourages the support of these businesses for the sake of the community.

Holiday Tradition of the Day:

Kwanzaa decorations always include the Kwanzaa colors: green, red, and black. Other themes in Kwanzaa decorations include African items, such as baskets, art, cloth patterns, and symbols of tradition and harvest.

Gift of the Day:

Peace ... Back by Popular Demand, by Keb' Mo' (Okeh, 2004). Keb' Mo' is one of the best bluesy folk guys around, and this is one of his most fantastic recordings, featuring Keb' Mo's response to the War in Iraq, with tunes about peace, hope, and freedom.
