Bob Dylan: The Broadway Musical

Wednesday October 18, 2006
No, it's not a joke. If you haven't already heard, Twyla Tharp's newest brainchild is called The Times They Are A-Changin. It is, basically, exactly what it sounds like – a tribute to the work of Bob Dylan through the most bizarre channel, considering.

In all fairness, maybe it's not completely bizarre. After all, Dylan did spend quite a bit of time traveling with the circus as a child, before picking up a guitar and tracking down Woody Guthrie. He hasn't had the most ordinary of lives, so maybe it's not so weird after all that Broadway has decided to go there.

In case you're not a Tharp-head, she was responsible for the Tony Award-winning musical that utilized the music of Billy Joel, entitled Moving Out. The Times They Are A-Changin promises to be "different," as Tharp admitted in an interview with Catie Couric. The show, which features actors singing and dancing to 27 of Dylan's classic songs, opens October 26 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. See the The Times They Are A-Changin Web site for tickets and more info.
