Agent Orange by Kate Wolf
- It begins, "I was seventeen when I quit school, the year that I enlisted I don't recall just why I did, my Mom says I insisted I had some strange idea then, that Uncle Sam was right My Mama cried, she signed the card, and I went off to fight. But I just found out this morning, the Doctor told me so, They killed me in Vietnam and I didn't even know."

protest song
- "Where have all the flowers gone" as well as most of the above. "A Hole in Daddy's Arm" is a lament, but it also is a protest of the drug abuse so many soldiers come home with, so I'd list it as well. I'd put "Motherless Child" in that same category. It is a timeless protest of how hard it is to be a single mom.

Blowin' in the Wind
- This song may not be as intense as some of the others, but it speaks to every aspect our lack of understanding history. We continue to fight and suffer and treat our brothers and sisters inhumanely and never seem to learn. The answers are still blowin' in the wind!

Protest Song
- No Man's Land (Eric Bogle). It's what some old friends of mine call "a wrist-slitter".

I Aint Marching Anymore by Phil Ochs
- Yes, there are other great protest songs by other great singers - Seeger, Guthrie, Dylan, Anderson, Earle, etc. But Ochs was the best.

Michael Heart - Wont Go Down
- It's about the attack on Gaza in 2008/2009 and is as good as any protest song I have heard.

The End of War - Eric Colville
- Here is a smartly crafted and catchy anti-war song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjNNMIxQVLo

Here are two of my favorites
- High Germany by the Pentangle and Fighting for Strangers by Steeleye Span. These songs tell of the sorrow of a loved one leaving home to fight in a war, wether they want to of not.

This is the best
- Universal Soldier by Buffy Ste. Marie, sung by Donovan. I think this just about sums it all up.

Favorite protest song
- A protest song should be easy to sing, hopeful (not just lament about how bad things are), and give people a sense of collective strength. My nominee: "Which Side Are You on?" Second place: "If I Had a Hammer." Third place: "We Shall Overcome" . Fourth place: "Give Peace a Chance." Fifth place: "This Land is Your Land"
