For a while there, it seemed like KT Tunstall's song "Black Horse and Cherry Tree" was everywhere. I think I even heard in the background of an ad for Desparate Housewives. That could be the most exposure a contemporary folk artist that's not Bob Dylan has received. Live, Tunstall peppers her set with live-recorded loops of her singing and playing backup for herself. Live looping is not a new concept, but the smoothness with which Tunstall pulls off her looping, her invigorating stage presence, and her honest, catchy songs make her one of the more undefinable new folk artists this year.
