Utah Phillips has long been an advocate for the preservation of little-shared stories about American history. A card-carrying member of the IWW, Phillips has been sharing old wobbly songs with audiences all over the continental US for decades now. His songs and stories talk about elements of American history that textbook writers like to skip over. On Moscow Hold, Phillips engages in what he refers to as "oral flatulence," also known as good old-fashioned story-telling.
