New York City-Based Contemporary Singer/Songwriter Clare Burson

NYC-based singer/songwriter Clare Burson just flat out has the prettiest voice I've heard in a while. And she writes darn good songs.

Clare Burson grew up in the hills of Tennessee, where so many songs find their way. She began life studying classical violin, and later became more drawn to Bluegrass, Irish, and Klezmer fiddling. Durying her tenure at Brown University, where she studied History, Burson began to learn guitar and to write her own songs.

Clare spent some time after college playing open mic nights in Boston and New York, before moving back to Tennessee in 2001. While in Nashville, she managed to make some very important connections, and to focus on building her career as an independent singer/songwriter before moving to Brooklyn, where she now resides.

She released her first independent record The In-Between in 2003, and since then, has enjoyed the favorable receptions the CD has met. Performing Songwriter magazine named The In-Between among the top DIY recordings of 2004.

Her second release Idaho was recorded in the winter of 2004-05, and includes the musical skills of David Henry (David Mead, Cowboy Junkies), Neilson Hubbard (Garrison Star, Matthew Ryan), Fognode (Sarah Siskind, Courtney Tidwell), and Lex Price.

A third EP, entitled The Imperfect Waltz is due out in the spring of 2006.
