San Francisco-Based Folk-Rocker Ted Ekman
Somewhat new to the Bay Area, Ted Ekman has been raising eyebrows in San Francisco's music community since he arrived. His first independently released CD, "Dirt," showed Ekman combining folk, rock, and blues, into his artistic menagerie of energy and infectious melodies.

Ekman has spent the past two years working on recordings with Patrick Conway (Dave Matthews, Ben Harper, Goo Goo Dolls, and others). Conway has been recording Ekman's energetic and unforgettable live shows. These shows have been compiled and released on four separate recordings, all of which are available through Ekman's Web site.

I came across Ted Ekman after one of my About.com colleagues recommended I check him out. His music tends toward the anti-folk area that's become so popular and so largely spread from New York's East Village and clubs like the Sidewalk Cafe. Now in San Francisco, Ekman is introducing California crowds to his raw brand of honest, high-octane folk, rock, and blues.

If you're in the Bay Area and anti-folk is your thing, consider dropping into one of Ted's shows.
