On Tuesday, August 30, 2005, Bob Dylan released the 2-CD set No Direction Home: The Soundtrack - The Bootleg Series, Volume 7" (Columbia/Legacy), which was the precursor to the September 20 release of the documentary film, No Direction Home.

Martin Scorsese directs the documentary, which follows Dylan's career from his beginnings up until his motorcycle accident in 1966.

The film follows Dylan as he carreened through the Greenwich Village folk music scene, trying to develop and hone his songwriting style and craft. With the 1960s as a backdrop, inevitably the story encapsulates the Greenwich Village Folk scenesters as well as the evolution of the new folk-rocksound.

Scorsese uses extensive interview footage with Bob Dylan speaking rawly about his experiences during that era, as well as interviews with his friends and peers from the time.

The soundtrack and film are alredy raising eyebrows in both the Folk and Rock worlds, as fans from several generations get an inside peak into the life and times of Bob Dylan.
