Guide Review - Various Artists - City Folk Live 8 (WFUV)
If thats not enough to make you drool, you should know that this CD was compiled by one of the best radio stations in the country. If you dont live in the New York City area, you can stream WFUV live, or just learn more about the station here. If youre among the hundreds of thousands of supporters of WFUV, chances are you tuned in during the week following Halloween, when the station was engaging in its annual fundraising drive. And you may have heard them mention they were giving away copies of their eighth compilation CD, appropriately named, City Folk Live 8.
Its a great record. The only way it could be any better was if it included tracks from Neil Young and Ani Difranco. Theyre really the only stupendous folk artists left out of this compilation; but if they were included, the CD could quite possibly explode out of sheer hotness. As it is, its able to maintain its form, which helps when youre trying to get it to play on your car stereo.
Every single song is excellent. Theyre ordered so smoothly, only excellent DJs would be capable of coming up with this lineup. Its too bad the only way to get it is from WFUV.
