When Neil Young decided to release a CD called Living With War in protest of the war on terror and the Bush administration, he received a barrage of criticism. He was a Canadian citizen protesting the American government, he was calling for the impeachment of the president at war time ... it seemed as though few people had much good to say about Neil's effort.

Here at About Folk Music, on the other hand, we were thrilled and excited to see what Young could come up with after only 12 hours of recording, a 100-voice choir, and a dozen or so songs pointedly protesting the American government.

The result was, of course, impressive. Through songs with titles like "Let's Impeach the President," "Living With War," and "After the Garden," Neil Young managed to get his point across in a very clear and respectful manner. And, once the backlash hype had died down, people got to enjoy the music for what it was: one man (and a band, and a 100-voice choir) making the best of his means of expression.
