Datri Bean
According to her Web site:
"Music for a lazy summer day. A quirky blend of 1930's jazz, buttery vocals and just-sitting-on-the-porch songwriting. Drawing on ancient jazz (the really old stuff that makes you want to dance funny) and muddy boot folk-blues, Datri Bean's music is steeped in hot, muggy weather, sitting on the roof until dawn, God and corn whiskey."

Datri started playing piano about 25 years ago, when she was growing up in the middle of nowhere, Wyoming. After a brief stint of music study at the Boston Conservatory of Music, Datri got out as fast as she could, and headed for Austin, Texas. There, she spent a lot of time not studying music in a conservatory, and honing her smooth, calm, infectious sound which she now spreads all over her new hometown of Seattle, WA.

She headed back to Austin, though, to work on her debut release Slow Down Summertime (due out independently on March 4). On this beautiful record, she's joined by some of Austin's finest players, including Stanley Smith (Asylum Street Spankers) on clarinet, Rob Jewett (Wayne "the train" Hancock) on upright bass, and Scott French on drums. She's also joined by Kim Dechamps on pedal steel and Terry Shimazu on Hammond B3 organ.

Datri has been a finalist in the New Folk stage at Kerrville, and has received honors from Planet Bluegrass' Rocky Mountain Folks Festival.
