Description of Vandaveer's Work:

Indie folk, Americana, singer-songwriter

Comparisons:

Vandaveer's intuitive, lush indie folk arrangements can most adequately be compared to that of folks like Bon Iver and the Fleet Foxes (in fact, they've shared bills with both bands). Fans of Cat Stevens and Joni Mitchell may also appreciate the work of Vandaveer.

Vandaveer Lineup:

Vandaveer is mostly the work of Mark Charles Heidinger, who plays several instruments, writes all the songs, and sings them all. While on the road, however, Heidinger is joined by backing vocalist Rose Guerin and percussionist Robby Catholic.

Vandaveer Biography:

Vandaveer is the brainchild of Washington, D.C.-based singer-songwriter Mark Charles Heidinger, who grew up in Kentucky and also plays bass in the D.C. band These United States. Heidinger released his debut album to critical acclaim in 2007, focusing on live and acoustic recordings, and spent much of the following years on the road playing shows with Fleet Foxes, Bon Iver, Alejandro Escovedo, and several other hugely notable folk and Americana bands. That album's follow-up, Divide and Conquer dropped in August, 2009, featuring some backup assistance from These United States.
