Martin Sexton Biography: Born and raised in Syracuse, NY, Martin Sexton's early influences were blues and r&b masters like Stevie Wonder and Howlin Wolf. He taught himself how to play guitar, and joined his first band when he was in eighth grade.

In 1990, Sexton moved to Boston, and began earning support and appreciation as a busker in Harvard Square. He eventually began playing in clubs, as well, and his independently produced first album won him a slew of Boston Music Awards. This original demo was eventually re-released in 1996 by Eastern Front Records.

Since then, he has released five albums to date, including a live album: Live Wide Open. He has become known as a folk, blues, and jazz guitar master, using his hands, feet, and voice as both melody and percussion.

Sexton continues to maintain a rigorous tour schedule, and now records for Atlantic Records. He was named Artist of the Year by the National Academy of Songwriters in 1994.
