Dan Tyminski Biography:
Dan Tyminski was born in June, 1967, in Rutland, Vermont. He started playing music at the age of six, and grew up practicing guitar and mandolin. He started a band called Green Mountain Bluegrass when he was in high school, for whom he played banjo. In the late 1980s, Tyminski joined the Lonesome River Band as a mandolin player. He continued with that band for a half-decade before being recruited by Alison Krauss to play in Union Station in 1994. He also earned acclaim in 2002 with his performance on "I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow" (purchase/download) from the film O Brother, Where Art Thou?
When Union Station took a break so that Krauss could tour in support of her collaboration with Robert Plant (Raising Sand), Tyminski formed the Dan Tyminski Band and released Wheels, which reached number one on the U.S. bluegrass charts and was nominated for a 2009 Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album.
