Quote from John Prine: "Have you ever noticed / When you're feeling really good / There's always a pigeon / That'll come shit on your hood / Or you're feeling your freedom / And the world's off your back / Some cowboy from Texas / Starts his own war in Iraq.
John Prine Biography: John Prine was born in October, 1946, in Maywood, Illinois. His grandfather played guitar for Merle Travis, and Prine followed in his grandfather's footsteps by learning guitar when he was just 14 years old.
Before becoming a professional songwriter, he would spend some time in the Army, and some delivering mail, before moving to Chicago to pursue music.
After establishing a decent following in Chicago, Prine was discovered by Kris Kristofferson, and he released his debut self-titled album in 1971. The album was so well-received that Prine was often speculated to be "the next Dylan."
Since then, John Prine has released 22 albums, and received a Grammy award for his 1991 release, The Missing Years, and his 2006 release, Fair and Square.
In 1998, John Prine was diagnosed with throat cancer and had the tumor removed through surgery. Five years later, he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame.
