Sarah Jarosz was born in 1981 in Wimberley, TX. She grew up making music and, as a teenager, moved to Boston to attend the New England Conservatory to, according to her official bio, "study contemporary improvisation on a NEC Presidential Merit scholarship." There, she studies various aspects of traditional American and world music, and has expanded her horizons from playing country and bluegrass to experimenting with modern rock and Jewish folk music.
All before her 20th birthday, she was nominated for a Grammy Award, an Americana Music Award, and won three Austin Music Awards. Her second studio album, Follow Me Down released in may 2011 to numerous positive reviews and included guest spots from the Punch Brothers, Bela Fleck, Jerry Douglas, Shawn Colvin, Vince Gill, and numerous other of Nashville's finest musicians.
