Neko Case Live on Tour With Merle HaggardNeko Case Biography:
Neko Case was born in Alexandria, VA, in September, 1970. Her family traveled extensively during Neko's early years before settling down in Tacoma, WA. By the age of 15, Neko had moved out on her own and, by the time she was 18, was playing drums in several punk rock bands. In 1994, she moved to Vancouver, BC, where she attended the Emily Carr Institute of Art & Design. There, she connected with the band Maow, with whom she began singing more often. She also joined the Vancouver band the New Pornographers. Although she had already released her debut country-infused album The Virginian, Case began touring a bit with the New Pornographers.
After moving back to the states and settling in Seattle, WA, in 2000, she released her second solo album (this time with back-up band Her Boyfriends). It won Case critical praise from The New York Times, Time, and several other publications.
Since then, she has released several other studio albums, including 2006's Fox Confessor Brings the Flood and one live record. She continues to play with the New Pornographers and other artists, such as Nick Cave, Great Big Sea, and The Corn Sisters - an old time country duo with fellow Seattleite Carolyn Mark.
