Foghorn Stringband Background Info:

The band's members had known each other for years when, one night at the National Fiddling Championship in Weiser, Idaho, they really started to feel like a band. They started calling themselves Foghorn Leghorn. They make a point of not trying to have a particular sound and, as a result, they have developed a very laid-back onstage presenve. The band generally uses no monitors and frequently no amplification.

Old Time Pickers:

According to the band's official bio, many of the band's members came from rock and roll backgrounds, "attracted to old time music by its accessibility and communal spirit." Onstage and on record, the group sits in a circle and plays together like a group of pickers sitting on a front porch. Though they tour the country and are well-known on the festival circuit, they frequently play square dances and free gigs in their hometown of Portland, Oregon.
