Asylum Street Spankers Biography:
The Asylum Street Spankers originally got together at a party in Llano, Texas, in 1994, where Guy Forsyth, Christina Marrs and Wammo started a jam session. Back in Austin, they gathered some other friends and quickly took on a regimen of playing frequent gigs at bars and happy hours along Guadalupe Street in Austin. It was there that they got their name. Guadalupe Street was nicknamed Asylum Street, as it leads to the old Asylum.Forsyth eventually left the band and, several personnel changes later, in 1999, they started the indie label Spanks-a-Lot Records. Since then, they've slowly but steadily built up an international cult following as a hard-hitting, undeniably entertaining indie folk act. They've recorded 17 albums to date.
