Andrew Bird Biography:

Andrew Bird was born and raised in Chicago, and grew up studying music via the Suzuki Method on violin. He studied violin at Northwestern University before releasing his first album Music of Hair—largely focused on folk and blues music. Soon after, he teamed up with the Squirrel Nut Zippers, with whom he recorded three albums.

He formed his own band in 1997—Bowl of Fire. Soon after Bowl of Fire's third release, he started performing as a solo artist and released two solo album on Ani DiFranco's Righteous Babe label before signing with Fat Possum Records in 2006.

Since then, he's released another Bowl of Fire album, as well as another solo disc. In all, he's released 11 albums and has collaborated with a number of artists ranging from Neko Case to Kristin Hersh, My Morning Jacket, and Ani DiFranco.
