On her third album, Krauss' work has a decidedly more bluegrass bent than her later recordings. The super-strong title track is largely driven by mandolin and fiddle solos, which bounce back and forth artfully, drawing out their players' impeccable dexterity. Though this came before her real "breakthrough," the album is supremely strong and mature, marrying solid influences of contemporary country and traditional bluegrass with Krauss' natural mainstream appeal.

The album showcases early signals that Alison Krauss would become a real force to be reckoned with. Her voice is so high and clear, it nearly puts the high, lonely tenor standard in bluegrass to shame. Other highlights, in addition to the title track include "Endless Highway," with its well-apportioned banjo lines, and "Tonight I'll Be Lonely Too."
