It's been an interesting year in American folk music in 2012, with some curious evolutions taking place. I can go into a few of those in greater detail as the year really comes to a close, but one thing we saw a lot of were singer-songwriter duos. From the long-awaited collaboration of Americana darlings Jim Lauderdale and Buddy Miller (an album which is due out between now and the end of the year) to the emergence of much newer collaborating partners, like Shovels + Rope and Birds of Chicago, to the headline-inducing dissolution of the Civil Wars...folk music duos were doing a lot worth talking about this year.
Check out my look at five of the most interesting and compelling folk music duos with this quick list, including recommended songs for your listening pleasure.
