The Carter Family is widely considered one of the most important artists - and families - in the history of both traditional and modern folk music. From AP Carter's musicological collecting and interpreting of traditional folk hymns to Maybelle's signature "Carter scratch" way of playing the guitar, to the various pursuits of later incarnations of the Carter Family Band.
