If you've been following the Indigo Girls on Twitter - or just getting out to see them in concert this year - you've probably caught wind of the fact they've been in the studio working on a new album. Over the weekend, Amy Ray tweeted that the disc - titled Beauty Queen Sister - will be dropping online and in stores on Oct. 4, 2011.
I was thrilled to be able to catch the Indigo Girls a number of times during this year's Cayamo acoustic music cruise back in February (and to host a special talk with them about women in music). They were pretty much on fire that whole week, delivering some of the most electrifying performances I've ever seen them give, and I've seen them live a few times. If those sets and the newer tunes they unleashed during them were any indication, Beauty Queen Sister should be well worth the wait. For now, though, check out this brief bio and profile of the Indigo Girls and this review of their last studio album, Poseidon and the Bitter Bug.
