Rounder Records, the pioneering indie folk and roots music label, will turn 40 next year. It's quite an accomplishment for one of the largest and most reputable independent record labels in the industry, and certainly a landmark given the floundering recording industry these days. In fact, Rounder has on its roster some of the most successful and influential artists in contemporary folk, roots, and bluegrass music.
To help celebrate the 40th Anniversary, Rounder artists Alison Krauss and Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas, Irma Thomas, Bela Fleck, and Mary Chapin Carpenter will film a special concert for PBS this Oct. 12, live from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tenn. Tickets to this no doubt unforgettable concert will go on sale Aug. 28, with proceeds benefiting the NARAS Grammy in the Schools program. More information about the concert is available at Rounder's Web site. Learn more about the history of Rounder Records and its most notable releases.
