Preview: Johnny Cash Remixed

Thursday August 21, 2008
Johnny Cash Remixed CDWhen I heard Snoop Dogg was teaming up with John Carter Cash to produce an album of dance remixes of Johnny Cash songs, I laughed out loud. Then I scratched my head, and then I decided it would probably turn out brilliantly. That series of events can also pretty much sum up exactly how I felt when I popped my review copy into iTunes recently. While I work on chewing this disc down to a reviewable-sized cud (don't you love that image?), why don't you take a look at my preview of Johnny Cash Remixed.

You can also stream a sampling from the disc in the form of "Folsom Prison Blues (Pete Rock Remix)" here: Windows Format | Real Format

I’ve heard this record and with a few moments aside, it’s horrible. Johnny Cash’s estate should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this to be released. Now don’t get me wrong, I really like remixes, these are just awful ones.
