Another Mindblowing Collaboration: John Carter Cash and Snoop Dogg
Maybe because the Alison Krauss-Robert Plant collaboration was such a success, or maybe for a thousand other reasons (probably a thousand other reasons), John Carter Cash has teamed up with Snoop Dogg for a Johnny Cash remix album due out this fall. Go ahead, read that sentence again. I'll give you a moment.
Cash, of course, strayed far from his country/rockabilly roots, covering songs by acts as disparate from his own work as Nine Inch Nails. Considering the reckless abandon with which he approached his music (and his life), it's not really incredibly surprising that artists from all walks of life are coming together to pay tribute to him via hardcore dance remixes and hip-hop. According to a press release from Compadre Records, an accompanying documentary is in the works, as well.
The album is due on Compadre Oct. 14, with a limited run of a "vinyl deluxe-edition" in stores Sep. 23.
