Usually, when I gather up lists of political songs, I'm looking at songs that speak out against a political figure or against a war. In this case, however, I've taken to seeking out songs that pay tribute to a political figure. Throughout his primary run, Barack Obama managed to inspire artists of all genres to put their work to use for his campaign. Musicians, particularly, have turned out song after song announcing their support for Senator Obama's historic bid for the presidency. Now that he's actually the presumptive Democratic nominee, I thought it was as good a time as any to present you with a list of some songs written for and about Barack Obama.
I know there are probably plenty of other songs out there. If you know of any pro-Obama political songs, drop a link in the comments. Or, if you've written a song inspired by the senator from Illinois, we'd love to hear it. Also, check out Rap Songs About Obama.

Hi-My name is Jeannine Haffner. I have a band in Oak Park, Il called The J’s. I recently wrote a folk rock anthem inspired by Barack Obama’s campaign. You can check it out at http://www.youtube.com/haff66. It’s called ‘Yes We Ca’. I’d love to know what you all think of it!
Thanx, Jeannine
Sorry, that’s ‘Yes We Can’!

Ha–Gigi I don’t think that song really qualifies as a song written in support of Obama. Although it is true that Obama has said it’s “time for a change.” LOL
I myself was inspired to write a ”Song for Barack Obama”I wish him and the u.s.a the best.
I have been writing songs for years…mostly R&B and Pop. My songs are usually about family, friends, love and all of the POSITIVE things we all share. Having grown up in Birmingham Al., the election had great meaning to me. Not just because Barack Obama was elected but also because we all came together, without regard to race, ethnicity or any labels people try to apply. As a nation we were no longer blinded, the way we used to be, and made a statement that we have come along way(together) and will continue to move forward. I entitled the song and the cd “Standing Ovation” because our entire nation truly deserves one.You can hear a long sample of it on mywebsite(www.wainbowproductions.com).
