Vote: The Best of Bluegrass

Monday March 10, 2008
Earl Scruggs, banjo legendI'm the first to admit that writing a Top 10 list is one of my most and least favorite things to do. I love it, because lists are fun, and it's a great way for people who don't know anything about a topic to be introduced. I dislike it, because I know I'm bound to leave out someone who deserves a mention.

Used to be our templates here at About.com limited lists to your top 10 picks. Now, we have the ability to make much longer lists (reference the Top 50 Folk Artists of All Time), and I'm all about expanding more lists to make sure newcomers have more comprehensive information. So, next up: the Best of Bluegrass list. Who do you think is the most notable, most inspiring, talented, memorable bluegrass artist of all time? Feel free to nominate more than one.

I'll give the voting until April Fools Day (April 1, 2008), and then I'll unveil the new list. So, get your votes in.

Hmmm… probably (in addition to the stellar list you’ve already come up with) Ralph Stanley, Newgrass Revival, the Nashville Bluegrass Band, Marty Stuart, Rhonda Vincent, Jim Lauderdale, Jerry Douglas, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band….
