Laura Veirs' Fall Tour Cancelled
According to a bulletin posted on her MySpace page, Laura Veirs' fall tour has been cancelled. The brief message simply says:
Fall Tour with The Decemberists has been cancelled due to an illness in the Decemberists. Everyone is terribly sorry. Laura will have more shows soon.
A note on the Decemberists' Web site reads:
One of our band members has been ill for a while but we thought all would be well in time for these tour dates. After a couple shows, though, it has become clear that the illness is much worse than we had initially realized. We need to return home so our friend can mend.
I don't have more news than that, but can only hope that the member that's ill will heal quickly and completely. As great a show as this tour would've been, we hope the band is faring well and that they're able to return to their great music soon.
Veirs is an excellent live performer, and it's a real shame that the tour had to be cancelled. I, for one, was really looking forward to this double bill, as I've really enjoyed the work of both bands, and think Veirs is one of the more gifted contemporary folk/alt.country songwriters around these days. But, it does look like she'll be touring on her own, and I'll try to let you know when those dates become available.
