Alison Krauss and Robert Plant - Raising Sand CD CoverThis collaboration has been probably one of the most talked about, speculated upon, eyebrow-raising collaborations this year from the Americana community. So curious have we all been about how a Plant-Krauss collaboration would turn out, and now I'm here to tell you, it turned out really, really well.

Bluegrass singer/songwriter/producer/fiddler extraordinaire (and 20-time Grammy winner) Alison Krauss would probably not be the first person I'd think to team up with Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant, but then again, Krauss has become quite the master collaborator. On Raising Sand, the pair delves into both artists' genres, while also experimenting with entirely new ground. T Bone Burnett produces.

Really, what else could one expect from a collaboration between a bluegrass prodigy and a rock god, other than one of the best records of the year. Both Plant and Krauss are known for being envelope-pushing innovators in their respective fields, so it's no wonder that they managed to develop a fairly new sound on Raising Sand.

This is a wonderful album. Fans of both Alison Krauss and Robert Plant will be pleased. For once an album my boyfriend and I can totally agree on.
