Artist Profile: Be Good Tanyas

People are always asking me about our neighbors to the north. Canada is full of incredible folk venues, festivals and, of course, plenty of outstanding folk artists. One Canadian folk group worth paying quite a bit of attention to is Be Good Tanyas.

The Tanyas originally started as a collaboration between multi-instrumentalist Samantha Parton and singer/songwriter Jolie Holland, who has since left the group. Parton met her other two bandmates while planting trees and, within a few years, the girls were releasing their debut album, Chinatown.
