Nickel Creek on Immediate Hiatus ... Starting Next Year

Friday September 1, 2006
Folk-bluegrass-pop-rock group Nickel Creek has announced that they will go on immediate hiatus beginning at the end of 2007. The innovative trio of instrumental prodigies has been playing together since before puberty, and have been turning heads in the bluegrass and acousti-pop worlds for years, thanks in no small part to their repeated collaborations with fellow prodigy Alison Krauss.

Each member of the group has been wrapped up in various solo and side projects for some time, so the announcement doesn't come as much of a surprise. Besides, we all know reunion tours are always a little more fun than the originals; so we here at About Folk Music hereby wish the siblings Watkins and their buddy Chris Thile much luck and happiness as they embark on their solo ventures.
